Opportunities From: Kanbe's Markets

Volunteer: Produce for the People Sorting: 1-3pm shifts

With our goal to redirect 3 million pounds of food in 2026, Kanbe’s Markets invites you to join us for one or more shifts with Produce for the People!

Volunteers play a vital role in sorting donated produce into our four redirection tiers, ensuring that every piece of food finds its best possible use:

1. Kanbe’s Healthy Corner Stores – bringing fresh, affordable produce to underserved areas.

2. Community Partners – providing fresh produce to over 50 local food pantries for neighbors in need.

3. Animal Feed – supporting nonprofit rescue farms.

4. Compost – for items not fit for human or animal consumption.

What Volunteers Do:

Sort incoming produce into redirection tiers. Help organize crates and bins for distribution. Support warehouse staff in keeping operations running smoothly

Impact: By joining Produce for the People, you’re helping ensure fresh, affordable produce reaches neighbors who need it most — while also reducing food waste through responsible redirection. For every pound sorted, four servings of fresh produce go back into our community!

Volunteers must be 8 years or older For ages 8–12, a 1:1 adult-to-child ratio is required. Working hands on with variety of foods and potential allergens.
